Research Electrochromic Materials

Materials are able to change their optical properties as a response to an external stimulus. The change can be effected through irradiation by light (photochromic materials), change in temperature (thermochromic materials), and the application of an electrical voltage (electrochromic materials).

Our research is focused on electrochromic devices fabricated by inorganic materials. The EC devices have been attractive for EC mirrors and smart windows. EC mirrors are used for rear view mirrors in cars to prevent the dazzling during driving a car. Smart windows are used in energy-efficient architecture. We are engaged in the fabrication and characterization of electrochromic materials such as WO3 and NiO, based on the various synthesis techniques.
